Richard M. Heaton

Richard M. Heaton, 90, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in South Ogden, UT. He was born on January 5, 1927 in Salt Lake City, UT, the first child of Merrill W. and Afton J. Heaton. He grew up in Alton, UT on a farm learning how to work and trust in the Lord.

Dick was Student Body President of Valley High School in Orderville, UT and left school early to join the US Navy during WWII. After the war he served an LDS Mission in the Netherlands.

He graduated from the University of Utah in accounting and married Marva Tueller in the Salt Lake Temple in 1953. Dick and Marva started their life and family together in Ogden Utah. He worked most of his career in the banking industry and after retirement spent his time managing his stock portfolio.

Dick was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as a Bishop and in many other ward and stake callings. He was a man of integrity and love.

He had many interests including skiing, camping, gardening, and reading. He most enjoyed spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren.

Survived by his wife Marva, four children Kim T. (Karen) Heaton, Tanya (Jim) Metcalf, R. Kirk (Susie) Heaton, and Brian W. (Becky) Heaton, three brothers Vaugh, Darol, and Dennis, four sisters, Marjorie, Carol Jean, Irene, and Sarah, 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merrill and Afton Heaton.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Sunday, June 25, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday, June 26, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., Washington Terrace, UT.
