Richard Bernard Hodges
March 4, 1930 ~ March 2, 2016
Richard Bernard Hodges, 85, of Washington Terrace, Utah, parted company with us to take his journey onward.
He was known to all as “Ben” and is survived by his three children, Debra Hodges Foote, Daryl Hodges, and Bart Hodges; by his sister, Margaret “Blanche” Norman; and last but not least his many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, of 49 years, DiAnn Larsen Hodges.
At age 19 he enlisted in the USAF where he served for four years and was honorably discharged. Almost a year later he married the love of his life. He then gained employment as a civilian with the Air Force, and with his wife, traveled to many locations installing early warning radar and communications systems. With a growing family he next obtained a job with the CAA, later known as FAA, in order to sink roots in one place. Those roots remained in Washington Terrace to his final days. Many friendships were made and enjoyed through the years, and he never lost his love of cars or motorcycles. He will be remembered for his honesty, integrity, inventiveness, compassion, and his ability to solve any problem – not to forget his stubbornness, which had its ups and its downsides, that pushed him to achieve many things. Everyone who knew him loved him and he was welcoming to all. He didn’t like having a fuss made over him as he was fiercely independent.
In keeping with his wishes, this will be kept brief. He would want everyone to know how much he loved them, and we hope that he knows how much he is loved and how much he will be missed.
