Richard James Mathis passed away Friday, September 19, 2014 in Everett, Washington, surrounded by his loved ones. He is now free from his uphill struggle and rejoicing in the awesome view from the top.

He was born August 13, 1979 in Tacoma, Washington to Melinda Boyd Mathis and James W. Mathis. His family loved him very much and his mother supported all of his dreams. Richard was blessed to have his fiancée, Holly, and their children, Kenzie Mae and Keegan, in his life. He was proud to be a father and cherished every moment spent with his family.

Richard lived most of his life in the Northwest working in the HVAC industry or construction.

He is survived by his mother, Melinda, Brigham City; his father, James, Tremonton; one daughter, Kenzie Mae Mathis, Everett, Washington; one sister, Jaime, North Carolina; grandmother, Linda Boyd, Harrisville; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. His fiancée, Holly Cargill and stepson, Keegan of Everett, WA, will also dearly miss him.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
