CLEARFIELD a€" Richard Douglas Jenkins, 63, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011, after a courageous struggle with an extended illness. He was born on December 9, 1947, the son of Charles and Fern Locking Jenkins.

Richard worked in Logistics for Hill Air Force Base for many years and was in the Air Force Reserves. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping, collecting beer steins, pocket watches, swords and knives and other interesting objects. He was gifted with the ability to play the piano by ear, never having a lesson.

He is survived by his daughters Melinda Jenkins and Chelsey Schrum, and grandchildren Kaydence Huffaker, Diesel Huffaker, Amos Schrum and Christi Schrum. Preceded in death by his father and grandson Teddy (Theadore Conway).

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery. 1050 S. State Street.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Primary Children''s Medical Center.
