Richard O’Brian Mann, 78, passed away peacefully at the Mann family home in Roy, Utah, on February 20, 2025. He was born to Edward O’Brian and Elaine Petersen Mann in Murray, Utah, on November 10, 1946. Because his father was a Colonel in the United States Air Force, his family was assigned to live many places; including California, McConnell AFB in Wichita, Kansas, Ramey AFB in Puerto Rico, and Grand Forks AFB in North Dakota.
Upon graduating from high school, he attended Michigan State University as an Accounting student. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and then continued his studies at BYU. He graduated from BYU in accounting in 1971 and became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), later earning Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification.
Richard and Ramona (Mona) Rollins were married in the Salt Lake Temple on November 26, 1975, and lived in Thornton, Colorado, for several years before returning to Utah. They lived in West Valley City, then bought Ramona’s parents’ home in Roy in 1989 where they raised their two precious children, Mary Elizabeth and Edward O’Brian.
Richard worked for the LDS Church as a Certified Public Accountant. This provided him with the opportunity to travel around the world to assist with church audits. Some of his trips took him to American Samoa, Brazil, and the LDS church ranch in Florida. The most memorable was BYU – Hawaii, where Ramona, Mary and Eddy were able to join him for vacation.
Richard was a creative and avid writer. He took great pride in teaching and sharing knowledge with everyone. He was a former instructor at Ogden-Weber Advanced Technical College, as well as a senior service missionary for the LDS church from October 2019 until his passing. He worked from home on special Family Search Indexing projects and other Family Search support activities. He loved his fellow service missionaries and spoke highly of them often.
Those left behind who will be missing him are his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Cromblin (Prattville, AL); son, Edward O’Brian Mann (Briana) (Rexburg, ID); grandchildren, Darnell DaShaun Mann, Jahmya Da’Shay Cromblin, Jahmir QuenTrell Cromblin, Elizabeth Laura Mann (Lizzy), Grace Mae Mann (Gracie), Richard O’Brian Mann (Ricky), Everly Mona Mann (Evie) and great-granddaughter, Londyn Marie Cromblin. He is also survived by his younger brother, Steven Wayne Mann (Charlotte), and sister-in-law, Lorinda Mann (Alan). He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ramona Rollins Mann; his parents, Edward and Elaine Petersen Mann; and his brother, Alan Mann.
A special thanks to Stan Robinson for the friendship and care given to our father (and mother) over the years. You are a true blessing to our family! Thank you, Kathy, for sharing Stan with us.
