Richard C. "Pete" Petersen of Layton, Utah died September 14, 2009 from a brain tumor.
Born in Pocatello, Idaho on July 16, 1943 to H. Arthur and Lenna May Richardson Petersen. Graduated from Pocatello High School and Idaho State University with an associate degree in industrial electronics. Married Helen Moody on March 20, 1970, later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Survived by his wife, Helen, daughter, Leslie (Jason) Miller, son, David Petersen, two grandchildren, Collin and Peyton Miller, and sister Geraldine Edgley. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents and brother Harold Petersen.
Member of the LDS church and held the office of High Priest. Served in the Sunday School, was a home teacher and worked in the scouting program.
Pete was a broadcast engineer for many years and came to SLC from Pocatello in 1965 and worked first at KCPX television and radio. He moved on to Bonneville Satellite and Simmons Media and was working as a transmitter engineer on Farnsworth Peak for KSL-TV at the time of his death. He was well known all over the United States for his expertise and inventiveness. When he wasn''t working, he loved to fish and camp with his family and good friends and go to breakfast and lunch with his good buddies Brent and Bill.
Services will be held in his honor on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Oak Forest Chapel, 2250 N. 2200 E., Layton. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Huntsman Cancer Research Hospital, Salt Lake City, Utah.
