Richard Albert Rawlins Sr. passed away peacefully on May 18, 2013 after a long battle with cancer.

He was born June 16, 1938 in Logan, Utah to Lloyd Alpheus and Hulda Gertrude Zbinden Rawlins. Raised in Denver, he returned to Utah in 1954 and graduated from Davis High School in1956.

He married Patsy Mower on September 10, 1955 and their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple the following year. Together they had six children, Carolyn (Steven) Oberbeck, (Bert) Richard Albert (Kaye) Rawlins Jr., David Lloyd (Kathi) Rawlins, Janette (John) Milligan, Cleston Earl (Robin) Rawlins and Jennifer (Chris) Rasmussen.

At the age of 16 he began his apprenticeship in carpentry and became a master finish carpenter whose work was widely admired for its attention to detail and craftsmanship. He later worked as a handyman and supply manager for the law firm of Van Cott, Bagley, from which he retired after 19 years of service.

A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was a high priest and held many church positions. He served for many years as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple and cherished the friendships he made there.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Wesley and sister Susan. He is survived by his wife and children, 33 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a brother Doug.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, particularly Dr. Agarwal, Julia, Lorna, Dholani, Sharon and Eric. We also would like to thank Davis County Vista, particularly Mindi, Tami, Chris, Helen, Tanya, and Don. A special thank you to sister-in-law, Sharon Kimber.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Woods Cross 2nd Ward Chapel, 790 W. 1500 S. Friends may visit family on Wednesday, May 22nd from 6-8 pm at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Thursday 10:30 a€" 11:30 at the church prior to services. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.
