Richard Ronning
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother Richard Ronning passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013, from complications from a heart attack. Richard fought a brave battle until the end, clinging to life and then ultimately making his decision to pass away comfortably surrounded by his family.
Richard was born on November 12, 1934 to Per and Frances (Debbie) Ronning in New London, CT. He had two brothers and one sister, Robert, Per and Sonia. He joined the U.S. Air Force early in life and wound up serving his country for most of his adult years. Richard was an avid swimmer and everything he did, he did with everything he had. Richard met his wife of 48 years in Okinawa, Japan. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and lit up whenever he had the chance to see his grandchildren together.
Surviving are his sister Sonia, his wife Chizuko, and his three children, Jim (Tina), Sandy, and Robert (Delores). He passed away with very fond memories of his six grandchildren, spending the summer with them before he was called away.
My father was a brave and honorable soul who will always be my hero. Anyone who knew him loved him for his good natured banter and the never ending complaining he did about everything he could not do anything about. He will be missed, but loved until we have a chance to be together again.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment will be at a later date.
