Richard Phillip Rust
RIVERDALE a" Richard Phillip Rust 68, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010 after a long struggle with paralysis.
Richard was born March 31, 1941 in Ogden to Phillip and Emma Camilla McPhie.
Richard grew up in Washington Terrace and attended Ogden High School where he met and married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, July Carole Dopp, on May 28, 1958.
After serving his country with the U.S. Navy for four years, Richard moved his family back to Utah and began a career at Hill AFB, as a computer operator. He retired in 1994 as a Oracle Database Programmer after 35 years of service.
Richard had many interests including Elvis Presley (which he and Judy both loved), he had a band for years (The Ramblers) in which he played the guitar and sang, he built and raced model cars, and was extremely gifted in leather work. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Richard is survived by his children, Randy Brad Rust and son-in-law Kevin Clark of Philadelphia, PA; daughter, Janet Lynn (Rust) Knighton and son-in-law, Randy Knighton, Hooper, UT; two grandchildren, Travis (Kathy) Poll, and Teva Lynn (Dax) Williams, he was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, Hayden, Korbyn, Ashton, Gracie and Kylinn; and one brother, Robert (Norma) McPhie.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Judy and both parents.
Cremation will take place under the direction of Lindquist''s Crematory.
