Richard Diones Santhon 06-28-1951 a" 03/28/2011
WEST POINT- My beloved husband, Richard Santhon, passed away at home on Monday, March 28, 2011. He leaves behind many who will miss him terribly, including his wife of 19 years, Renee (Sphar) Santhon and daughters Crystal Santhon (17), West Point, UT; Rachel Santhon (38), Hollywood, CA; brothers Tino (Rennie) Santhon II, Woodland Hills, Ca; and James (Elaine) Santhon of Orange Co, CA.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Constatinos (Tino) Santhon (Papachrysanthou) of Hollywood, CA, (born in Patras, Achaia, Greece), mother Mabel (Goeb) Santhon of Hollywood, CA (originally from Chicago, IL), and dear brother Phillip Santhon (1989).
Richard grew up in Hollywood, CA and went to Hollywood High School and UCLA. He excelled at baseball, basketball and football. To this day he has many friends from his youth that love him and keep in touch this many years later. He moved to Utah in 1993, close to his new in-laws, with his bride, Renee, to start a new life and family. Family meant everything to Richard. He raised his first beloved daughter, Rachel, in San Louis Obispo, CA as a single dad. He was excited to start a new family and said that being a father was his most precious job in life. One year later his daughter, Crystal, was born. Being the second time around, he knew how fast the time would go by, so he spent every second possible with Crystal.
Richard was a very private person, so most people never knew the great amount of pain he lived with daily from neuropathy in his legs, and recently in one of his hands and also an extremely painful back problem. He is now relieved from his earthly limitations and a freed spirit with his mother, father and brother; also his best friend Frankie, and his dad, Richard''s mentor, Frank Carlisi.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Friends may visit family from Friday, April 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
