“Gone Fishing”

OGDEN- Richard Erwin Smiley, age 82, passed away at Ogden Regional Hospital with his wife and family and grandchildren at his side on March 18, 2016.

Richard was born on July 2, 1933 in Mineola, Kansas to Dolpha and Pearl Smiley. He married the love of his life over 50 years ago and in that union they had three sons and one daughter.

Richard served four years in the Navy during the Korean Conflict, 1953-1957.

Richard enjoyed the great outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his kids and brothers. In the latter part of his life he liked going to Wendover with his wife.

Richard is survived by his wife, Genette Smiley; their children, Timothy Smiley of Riverdale; Jimmy (Shonna) Smiley and children Michael, Tim, Rachel, Amanda, Troy, and Chase, all of Riverdale; Ricky (Carmen) Smiley and children Wes and Alex of Draper; and Luwana Smiley and children Dalton, Kyden, and Accalia of Roy; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd., Ogden.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.

The family thanks Dr. Mohr and the staff of Ogden Regional Hospital for their tender loving care for Richard.
