Richard D Swasey
KAYSVILLE a" Richard D Swasey, 76, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013.
He was born January 31, 1936 in Roosevelt, Utah the son of Sherman Martin and Birdie Isabella Robison Swasey.
Richard was raised in the Uintah Basin and joined the U.S. Air Force and lived in Oklahoma and Virginia. He went to school in Logan and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He then moved to Seattle, WA to work for Boeing and returned to Kaysville in 1964 to work at Hill AFB.
Richard married Geroldine Faye Wolfe on September 23, 1955 in Salt Lake City. She preceded him in death on April 10, 2004. He married Reva Parkinson Gates on October 1, 2004 in Salt Lake City. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Richard served faithfully in many callings and duties all of his life. In later years he served a mission at the Bishops Storehouse. He spent many years in Scouting. He loved the boys and loved working with them. Richard was awarded the highest rank in Scouting, the Silver Beaver award in the Woodbadge Program.
Richard loved Scouting, fixing cars, building dune buggies, hunting, camping, family vacations, reading and spending time with family.
Surviving are his wife Reva Swasey, West Valley; sons, Rodney (Yukari) Swasey, Tottorri, Japan; R. Wayne (Teresa) Swasey, Tooele; daughters, Kristine (Robert) Silvester, Provo; Kellie, Kaysville; Kara (Al) Bearnson, Roy; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, brothers, Sam (Pat), Millville; Merrill (Sandra), Castledale; Doug (Sandra), Boneta; sisters, Virginia (Clyde), Ottowa, Canada; Eve (Larry), Grand Junction, CO; Patricia (Larry), West Valley; Afton (Larry), Boise, ID; and Mary (Gary), Monument, CO.
Preceded in death by his wife Geroldine Wolfe Swasey, two grandsons, Jacob Holden Bearnson and Quincy Naoka Swasey.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Kaysville Crestwood Stake Center, 855 E. Mutton Hollow. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
