Richard Lee Thorne

Richard Lee Thorne, 76, passed away on September 6, 2015, at his home in North Ogden surrounded by his family.

Richard was born in Brigham City, Utah on December 30, 1938 to Leland Eugene and Lois Reeve Thorne.

As a youth, Richard achieved his Eagle Scout Award. He graduated from Box Elder High School, served an LDS Mission to Western Canada, and served in the U.S. Army.

Richard married Linda Gibbons on January 5, 1968 in the Logan LDS Temple.

As a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Richard served in many callings including Executive Secretary, counselor in the High Priest Quorum, and various Scouting positions. He loved the youth and he loved Scouting. He also loved missionary work and volunteered as a Service Missionary. Richard and his wife, Linda, served in the Nebraska Omaha Mission following his retirement from Hill Air Force Base.

Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping with his family. He loved working on the family fruit farm with his mother, brothers, children, nephews, and nieces. He was often heard singing, always had a ready smile, and never said an unkind word about anyone.

Richard is survived by his wife, Linda, two children, Melinda (Robert) Stoor and Richard (Dawnette) Thorne, 4 grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

Richard was preceded in death by his daughter, Ida Thorne; his parents, Leland and Lois Thorne; his sister, Lois Faye Andrew; and his brother, Doyle Thorne.

The family would like to express special thanks to Annette, Ina, and Mike from Peak Specialty Group Home Health & Hospice for their care and compassion.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Brigham City Cemetery.
