Richard Lawrence Turner

LAYTON - Richard Lawrence Turner, 67, of Layton passed away December 26, 2008 at his home. Richard was born in Idaho Falls, ID on March 5, 1941 the son of Morris Bennett and Thelda Bowles Turner. He was raised in Farmington, UT and graduated from Davis High.

He joined the Marine Corps in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1962. He married Julie Briggs of Bountiful and had three children. They later divorced. He married Margarett (Peggy) Durrant of Ogden and had three children and a step-daughter with Peggy, they later divorced. In 1997 he married Judy Hamblin of Layton, and accepted her five children as his own.

Richard worked as a laborer, Building Construction, Ranch Hand for Diamond T. Land and Livestock and was a truck driver for many years. He had a special love and talent for gardening and wood work.

He is survived by his wife Judy of Layton, step-daughter, Trish (Jason) Tenney, Billings, MT; daughters Dayna (Dean)Frehner, Las Vegas, NV; Kari (Nick) Reiter, Powell, WY; son, James Richard (Lesley) Turner, Clearfield, UT; step-children, Keith (Colette) Hamblin, Tamera (Jay) Shibuya, Gary (Shannon) Hamblin, Rodney Hamblin and Emily Hamblin all of Layton; daughters, Terry Turley and Lisa Hughes of Bountiful; sisters, Merese (Newell) Jensen, Pocatello, ID; Sandra (Bob) Simmons, Layton; brothers, Ron (Annette) Turner, Sandy, UT; Steve (Cathy) Turner, Grace, ID; Jay (Shirley) Turner, Boise, ID; 32 grandchildren , 23 great-grand-children.

Preceded in death by his parents, a son, Todd Richard Turner, two sisters, Cindy Vest and Dee Ann Keller and his dear friend and domino buddy, Mike Haugen of Rock Springs, WY.

Viewing and visitation will be held on December 30, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road, with cremation to follow.
