Richard Keith “Rick” Whitecar, Sr.
March 15, 1943 ~ November 5, 2015
Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Richard Keith “Rick” Whitecar, Sr., 72, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2015. He was born on March 15, 1943 the son of George Brinton Whitecar, III and Nathalia O’Carroll in Salt Lake City. He was raised there on Fern Avenue and graduated from West High School Class of 1961, where he was a defensive linebacker.
He married Linda Mae Andersen on March 9, 1962 in Salt Lake City, and they later divorced. He married Francene Mower in July 1983 in Elko, NV, and they later divorced. He married Sheree Lynn Edwards on January 7, 1995 in Elko, NV, and they were sweethearts until his passing.
A trucking veteran, Rick was a life-member of the Teamsters Union and retired from ABF Trucking at the age of 61. Since retirement he “worked” in the kitchen, watched The Price is Right, and walked his dogs, most recently Sadie.
Rick will be remembered not only for his love of animals but for his devotion and commitment to his family. Reflecting on his life he expressed that his family is what gave his life meaning and purpose. He enjoyed coffee on Tuesdays with his friends and on Saturdays with his brothers and recently with his nephew Davey and friends. Rick was the family mechanic – a tinkerer at heart, he could fix anything and supervise everything else. He enjoyed deer hunts, camping, and fishing in the Uintas, and was an avid Utes fan.
Rick is survived by his wife, Sheree Whitecar, South Ogden; children, Rick Jr. (Jacque) Whitecar, Washington Terrace; Kristi Lyn Whitecar (Bret Hiner), Murray; Ron (Ann) Whitecar, Murray; and Briana Lin Whitecar, Layton. He was also a father to many, including his stepchildren, Cody (Christi) Branz, Plain City; Josh (Katie) Branz, Menifee, CA; and Eric (Amber) Gould, Layton; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, George and Robert; and his sister-in-law, Barbara White Whitecar.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
