Richard Derl Young
Gone Fishing!
Richard Derl Young life-long resident of Farmington, Utah passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014.
Born April 25, 1930 in Ogden, Utah to the late Phillip and Agnes Baker Young. Lovingly known as Pa lived his younger years in Layton. After graduation from Davis High School Pa was drafted into the Army as a gunner serving in the Korean War. After an honorable discharge he returned home to marry the love of his life Betty Gayle Anderson, she precedes him in death. They built their home in Farmington where they remained for 50 plus years.
Pa was employed and retired from Hill Air Force Base after 35 years of service. Pa was at his happiest when he was in the mountains with fishing pole in hand or rifle depending on the time of year. If there was a bucket of water on the side of the road Pa could catch a fish from it. Mom, the outdoors and camping was his life. Sometimes called Mr. Fix it, there was not an engine or motor that Pa could not take apart or put back together. A true gentleman that cared for everyone he met. He always had a soft spot for his many dogs and his cat Bud, until his grandsons came along. In his eyes there was nothing better than his three boys.
Pa is survived by his daughters Cindy (Russ) Leavitt, Roxsan Spencer, grandsons Chad (Cathy) Leavitt, Curtis (Julie) Spencer, Shane (Becca) Spencer, great-grandchildren, London and Carson Leavitt and Lincon and Taylor Spencer. Also survived by four brothers and one sister, Philip (Afton) Young, Paul (Sharon) Young, Gary Young, Steven (Nancy) Young, Collene (Erik) Buckley and his best friend Scott.
The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the most awesome Hospice Team, Rocky Mtn. Hospice and Healthcare.
