Richard "Dick" Egbert

Our fun-loving, talented husband and dad Richard “Dick” Beesley Egbert, of Fruit Heights, passed away Sept. 5, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Dick was born April 22, 1937 in Salt Lake City to Basil Garr and Stella Beesley Egbert. He had a great youth, growing up in Idaho and Kaysville. He loved fishing every morning with his dad when they lived in Idaho. He graduated from Davis High in 1955 and went directly into the Air Force. He spent four years as a refueling operator and saw much of Europe, generating many stories to tell.

After his service, he started work at Sperry (later Unisys) where he worked 42 years as an industrial artist. One of the first people he met there was Nina Madsen, who became the love of his life and partner in crime. They married October 27, 1961 in Springville, UT, and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple July 18, 1980.

Dick enjoyed life. He loved camping and being outdoors, spending time with his family, playing games, watching movies and reading books. He was a skilled craftsman, carving, painting and creating things for others, such as walking sticks and whimsical decorations. He built a kayak and a canoe from scratch. He loved to build boxes and furniture. He also made hundreds of gifts for the Scouts in his troop. He loved the scouts and worked with them for many years.

Dick leaves behind his beloved wife, Nina; four children, Kelly (Mary) Egbert of Rockledge, FL, Keith (Crystal) Egbert of Rock Springs, WY, LeeAnn (Phil) Bohman of Mesa, AZ, and Heather (Jon) Oldham of Draper, UT; 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville South Stake Center, 900 So. Main Street, Kaysville.  Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Evergreen Cemetery, Springville, Utah.
