Richie DeWayne Bovero

March 8, 1946 ~ March 10, 2017

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Richie DeWayne Bovero, 71, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017, and will be dearly missed.

He was born March 8, 1946 in Ogden, Utah to Lewis Barney and Pauline Richins Bovero.

On August 9, 1980, Richie married Melanie Melaney. Richie was known for assigning nicknames to his friends and family.  Melanie had her own nickname for Richie and called him Cardo following a trip to Acapulco where their golf caddie referred to him as Ricardo while lining him up for a golf putt.  This nickname stuck with him and Richie will always be known as Cardo.  Melanie loved him very much and will deeply miss her companion and best friend for all time.

Richie was an extremely talented self-taught electrical engineer and mechanic. After a 30 year career with Smith’s he retired and started his own business, Industrial Electronics Repair, where he worked for another 20+ years.  If someone needed anything electronically or mechanically fixed Richie was your guy.  In his spare time he provided countless hours of selfless acts of service, built custom motorcycles, muscle cars and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, but few things topped “breaking bread” with those he cared about most.  Regardless of the restaurant he was always recognized and welcomed due to his fun personality and contagious laugh.  On the weekends you could find Richie with family and friends on long motorcycle rides taking in the fresh smell of the pine trees and the beauty of the mountains.  Richie left us unexpectedly and all who knew him loved him and he will be greatly missed.

Richie is survived by his wife, three sons, Kirt Layne (Tami Lynne) Bovero, Chad DeWayne (Zeilla) Bovero, Lonnie (Carrie) Fierro, two daughters, Brindi Jean Hansen, Monica (Greg) Durand; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; four brothers, Carl Bovero, Edward Bovero, Brent (Larene) Bovero, Steve (Melinda) Bovero, and one sister, Connie (John) Slater.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Tonya Lynn Bovero, one sister, Patty Lou Bovero, and two brothers, Gerald and Howard Bovero.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday March 16, 2017 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
