Ricky (Rick) Allen Naftzger, age 64, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 23, 2023, in Layton, Utah, after a courageous battle with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), a rare neurological disease.
Rick was born on September 22, 1958, in Clinton, Iowa to Richard and Wanda (Buikema) Naftzger. He was a 1976 graduate of Layton High School and attended Weber State University.
Following high school, Rick served 5 years in the U.S. Navy from 1976-1981. He was stationed in San Diego, California, where he served as a dental technician. Upon returning to Layton, he continued his passion in the dental field, where he owned and operated the Naftzger Dental Lab in Ogden Utah for over 35 years.
Rick is survived by his daughter, Brook (Logan) Clark; grandchildren, Mason and Aspen Clark; mother, Wanda Naftzger; and brothers Mark (Gail) Naftzger and Loren (Sondra) Naftzger. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Naftzger; and partner, Debbie.
Rick enjoyed jeeping, snowmobiling, four wheeling, camping, Utes games, kayaking, and any other outdoor or adventurous activities. He adored his grandkids and was known as the fun grandpa, always joking around, and playing with them in his spare time. His bond with Mason was unmatched and Aspen had a special way of always making him smile.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Rick touched are invited to a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N, Fairfield Rd, Layton, Utah.
