Rigoberto Silva Gomez, 61, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023, in Ogden, UT. He was born to Benjamin Silva Gonzalez and Altagracia Gomez Coria on March 29, 1962 in Jaripitiro, Municipal de Huaniqueo de Morales, Michoacan, Mexico, one of nine children. Schooled in Mexico, he began working as a farmer as a youth and continued an ethic of hard work his entire life.
Rigo, affectionately referred to by his close friends as “Guero,” met and married Marta Saucedo Carranza on January 9, 1983 in Huaniqueo. They recently celebrated their 40th Anniversary, but Marta has been calling him “Viejo” for years.
They had three children together, a son, a daughter, and another son in Mexico and then immigrated in the late 80s to the United States. In 1994 they had a daughter join their family while in Wisconsin. They eventually settled in Utah where there was better opportunity to raise their family.
Rigo worked for 19 years for LK West and recently for Utility Trailer and at McKay-Dee Hospital, but his passion was gardening and landscaping. He was the kind of man who would do it himself before paying someone else to do it; if it needed done and he didn’t know how to do it, he figured it out. He was a true pioneer and had a gift for mechanics.
Rigo and Marta faithfully attended St. Joseph Catholic Church together where they volunteered countless hours and were instrumental in Retiro Matrimonial, helping struggling couples come together and find joy. They touched so many lives.
Rigo was an outstanding husband, father, and grandfather. His four children were his pride and joy. Rigo worked hard his whole life to provide for them, and he loved anyone that knew him unconditionally. Rigo had the kindest heart.
RIP to this Incredible Man
“Love, your Family, we’ll see you in heaven.”
