Rita Dee Rowe Christensen

September 11, 1930 ~ February 15, 2015

Rita Dee Rowe Christensen, 84, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015.  She was born in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, on September 11, 1930, the daughter of Rodney Lucius and Venetta Helena Christensen Rowe.  She graduated from North Sanpete High School.

She married George A. Christensen on July 16, 1948 in Manti, Utah.  Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on June 19, 1965.  George passed away on October 16, 1993 after 45 wonderful years together.

She retired from JC Penney with more than 30 years in the accounting dept.

Rita was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully for over 50 years as a Primary President, Young Women President, Relief Society President and served in the Ogden LDS Temple.

She enjoyed church history, reading, and working on family history.

Rita is survived by her daughters, Susan (Larry) Clark, Syracuse; Lynette (Monty) Thurgood, West Point; and JaNae (Richard) Adam, Marriott-Slaterville; 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and sister, Eudora Nielson, SLC.  She was preceded in death by her husband, two baby daughters, parents, three sisters, and one brother.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.   Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
