Loving Mother

Rita C. Fagen (nee Windschitl), age 93, died at her home of 62 years in Bountiful, Utah.

She was born June 15, 1925 in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota to George and Veronica Windschitl.  She was raised there, attending St. Mary’s Grade School and High School, proudly graduating Salutatorian in 1943. She went on to graduate from Mankato Commercial College and held several civil service positions prior to her marriage.  On February 5, 1947 she married WWII veteran, Murvine B. Fagen at St.Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye.  Their union was blessed with eight children.

In 1957, the growing family, moved west and made their home in Bountiful, Utah.  Sadly, Rita was widowed in 1972, with the untimely death of her beloved husband Murv.  On her own, our mother faced the challenges of healing a devastated family, raising the four youngest children still living at home, and working full time in the Air Logistics Center at Hill Air force Base.  She worked there for 24 years until her retirement in 1986.  Rita was a member of St. Olaf’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her sons and daughters; Linda Fagen, Salt Lake City, Patrick (Judy), Woods Cross, Mary Paget, Bountiful, Peter Fagen, Bountiful, Colleen Conover (Doug), Hurricane, UT, Michael Fagen, Idaho, Kathleen Fagen, Los Angeles, CA, Kelly (Shelly), Dover, NH.  She is survived by her brother James Windschitl, Virginia Beach, VA and her sister Delores Johanson, San Diego, CA and 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Private family committal will be held at the Redwood Fall Cemetery, Redwood Falls, Minnesota.
