Rita Ann Kersting Field of Layton, Utah passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019, two weeks after her 94th birthday at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living in South Ogden, Utah. She was born on January 12, 1925, in Martinsburg, Missouri to loving parents, Joseph L and Jennie Benz Kersting. She was the 5th of 8 children. After Rita graduated from Mexico, Missouri High School, she married John Hardin (Buck) Field in Mexico, Missouri on April 20, 1943. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 28, 1967. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Rita and Buck moved to Layton, Utah in 1947 where they raised their family. Rita worked in retail sales at B&B, ZCMI, and retired from Macys.
Rita loved her family dearly and was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She is survived by Connie (Hank) Cragun, Barbara (Rick) Adams, Bill Field, Lynne (Stan) Warren, and Debbie Bennett, 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Rosemary Merryfield. Rita was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Sue Ann Field, daughter-in-law Chris Field, her parents, 4 sisters, and 2 brothers.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Layton 37th Ward Chapel, 628 So. Angel Street, West Layton, Utah. Friends may visit family Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
