Rita Stapley, 68, of Layton, Utah, passed away at Rocky Mountain Care Center peacefully in her sleep August 5, 2018.

Rita was born in Recine, Wisconsin on February 17, 1950 to Ruben and Helen Guzman.

Rita met her husband Eric Stapley serving him coffee working as a waitress when a year later they encountered each other again and Eric asked her to dance, they hit it off and were married six months later July 14, 1990 in Provo Utah.

Rita had a love for scrapbooking, she cherished being able to look back at fun memories of her loved ones. She was known for her green thumb in gardening and her beloved cooking traditions. She worked a variety of jobs ranging from coal mining to retail, she was determined to do anything she set her mind to. She was baptized a member of the LDS church in 1996 but still practiced some catholic traditions like Good Friday.

Rita is survived by her beloved husband Eric Stapley of Payson, Utah; her daughter Laurie Beddoes of Payson, Utah; her son Cary Lentz of Orem, Utah; her daughter Margaret Lewis of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; her daughter Maria Plumb of Layton, Utah; her daughter Charity Boren of Payton, Utah; son David Lewis of Layton, Utah; her daughter Angela Lewis of Spanish Fork, Utah; as well as 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
