R. J. Clay
KAYSVILLE – R. J. Clay passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 3, 2007.
R.J. was born in Murray, Utah to James and Lavina Reeder Clay on October 6, 1918.
The family moved to Ogden where dad received his education. He graduated from Ogden High School, Weber Junior College, and the University of Utah.
He married his sweetheart, Pearl Kapp on December 27, 1939. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on January 22, 1965. Pearl returned to her Heavenly Father on March 5, 2004.
He served in the Navy during World War II. He retired after 37 years from Hill Air Force Base. R. J. was an active member of the Kaysville 3rd Ward.
As a young man he received his pilot’s license.
His first passion was his wife and family. His second was his religion and his third passion was his cars.
He always had a warm smile for everyone and loved people.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three older sisters and six older brothers. Also preceding him in death was a beloved son-in-law and grandson.
Surviving are his six children: son, Ronald J. (Adele) Clay, daughters, Diane (Brent) Hancock, Joyleen (John) Morgenson, Susan Rubin, Cheryl (Arnie) Combe), Colette (Rand) Larsen, 25 grandchildren, and 40 great-grandchildren (and still counting).
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
