Robert Earl Barkley SEMPER FI
Robert "Hoot" Barkley passed away April 3, 2012 at the age of 82 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on February 4, 1930 in Derry, Pennsylvania to Harvey B. and Elsie J. Kuntz Barkley. On June 12, 1961, he married Tina Lambrose.
Bob served with the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He received many medals including the Purple Heart. After recuperating at the Philadelphia PA Veterans Hospital, he was deployed to the Naval Supply Depot in Clearfield, Utah. During this tour, he met his wife and made many lifelong military and civilian friends.
In his early years, he enjoyed bowling and hunting with family and friends and later on golfing. After he retired from H.A.F.B. in 1985, he immediately went to work at Valley View in Layton and Glen Eagle in Syracuse golf courses. Bob was an avid golfer and his golf buddies became his dear friends. Bob loved "His" Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a member of the Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Ogden, Utah.
Bob is survived by his wife and sister, Lois Plondke in Albuquerque, New Mexico and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harvey and Vernon Barkley.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Greek Orthodox Holy Transfiguration Church, 674 42nd Street, Ogden, Utah. Friends may visit family on Sunday, April 8, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. with prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. where military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, Ogden, Utah.
Goodbye Bob, I will miss you so much, till we meet again. I love you.
