Robert Shill Bergen
October 25, 1931- July 27, 2015
Our beloved father, grandfather, brother and dear friend passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2015 at the age of 83.
Robert was born in Ogden, Utah the eldest child of Lavor (Rudy) and Prilla Shill Bergen. He received his primary education in Lehi, Arizona and Ogden. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1949 then enrolled at Weber State College in 1949- 1950.
He joined the US Air Force in January of 1951 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant as a radar specialist in 1955. He used his military service training GI bill to continue his education at BYU, Weber State and Utah State Universities. He obtained a Masters Degree in electronic engineering in 1959. Robert started work as a quality engineer at Sperry Univac and worked there for the next 37 years. He continued working throughout his retirement on his oil exploration business, Oexsys LLC, researching and discovering potential oil and gas reservoirs, this was his passion.
Robert met and courted an outstanding young lady, Jeanette H. Gieben in 1960 and they were married in 1966 and later blessed with three children.
He is survived by his children Johnny R. Bergen, Rudy C. Bergen and Valerie J. Bergen; two grandchildren that he adored Mia J. Ivers and Cavan M. Ivers. Preceded in death by his wife Jenny. We were lucky to have him and he will be greatly missed.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, August 3, 2015 at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family from 9:30-10:30 am prior at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Ogden, Utah.
