Robert S. Clark

SOUTH OGDEN a€" Robert Smith Clark, 74, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010 in Ogden, Utah, from a heart attack caused by severe anemia due to a blood disorder. We thank the medical staff and doctors who worked so valiantly over the years to extend his life. You gave us more time with him.

Robert was born September 10, 1936 in Driggs, Idaho, and was the second of nine children born to Ellsworth Marion and Dorothy Smith Clark.

Robert served a mission in the North Central States with most of his time spent in Canada. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings but especially enjoyed teaching Sunday School.

He had been a member of the Utah National Guard where he taught marksmanship and played trombone in the 23rd Army Band.

He married his eternal companion, Evelyn Turnbow, on June 8, 1967 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Robert received his Bachelor''s degree in Biology from the University of Utah and a Master''s degree in Counseling and Guidance from BYU. He put himself through school as a bus boy at Hotel Utah and as a sprayer for the Mosquito Abatement Department.

Upon graduation, he was employed with the LDS Church Educational System for 35 years where he taught Seminary and Institute in Granger and Magna, Utah; Las Vegas, Nevada; New Zealand; Austin, Texas; and Ogden. His associates there were his second family. He taught and choreographed dances with his wife Evelyn. He established folk dance teams everywhere he was assigned, spending his last 27 years with the Ogden LDS Institute Folk Dancers.

Robert loved to serve and share his grape juice and garden produce with those around him. He enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, tennis, and ping-pong. He coached his children''s soccer teams and was an avid fan of Bonneville High School and Weber State soccer programs.

Robert is survived by his wife of 43 years, Evelyn, and 10 children, Kristine (Steven) Clark-Rasmussen, William (Mary) Clark, Karen (Clark) Coulam, Cynthia (Todd) Seipert, Robert (Trisha) Clark, Angela (Paul) Spens, Benjamin (Jennifer) Clark, Rebecca (Michael) Meyerhoffer, David Clark and Mitchell Clark.
