Robert L. Cordova (Bobby, Poppy)

January 22, 1947 ~ March 3, 2016

No Man was ever so loved.....

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend left us unexpectedly on Thursday, March 3, 2016 after complications from pneumonia, following a valiant struggle (which he won) with Multiple Myeloma.

Bobby's earthly journey began January 22, 1947 and in his short life he inspired so many of us with his kindness, love, loyalty and humor. He was born to Walter J. and Josie S. Cordova who provided him with a strong moral compass that he lived by his entire life.

Bobby attended Ogden High School. He served in the 173rd Airborne Unit during the Vietnam conflict. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and the National Defense Service Medal for the valor he exhibited during battle. Bobby chaffed at the title of hero but, to all that knew him, he was. A flag was flown in his honor at the U.S. Capitol.

Bobby felt that the greatest accomplishment in his life was being a father to his daughter, Wendy and a grandfather to Cooper and Sophia. His family meant the world to him. He married his best friend and the love of his life, Jo Ann, in 1983.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann; his daughter, Wendy Cordova Casteel (Greg); grandchildren, Cooper and Sophia Casteel; brothers: Tony, Gene (Marcia), Clyde (Martha) and Walter (Lynn); sisters: Marie Rice and Gloria Fugere (Roy); in-laws: Ron (Jan), Cheryl (Rod) and Craig (Lynda). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who all loved and admired him as well as many friends.

He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Wendy's mom, Diane; Dick Rice, Chris and Afton Christensen, Patty Crosbie; his nephew, Junior Cordova and numerous aunts and uncles.

Although Bobby will be greatly missed, he is now in God's country, fly fishing and surrounded by those who loved him. Those of us left behind will never forget him.

Memorial services with military honors will be held on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Huntsman Cancer Institute (Multiple Myeloma Clinic) on his behalf or a single flower can be presented in tribute at the time of the visitation.
