Robert Carl Cottle "Our Hero"

Husband, Father, Grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2011, surrounded by his loving family who will miss him dearly. Robert (Bob) was born November 30, 1936 in Ogden, Utah to Marzetta Dehning and Carl Cottle.

He married his sweetheart Diane Wilde in 1955. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. The two were inseparable from that day forward. Bob and Diane have six children that are the light and focus of their lives. He graduated from Davis High and attended Weber State University. He had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Bob was active in ward and stake organizations all of his life including two bishoprics. He also served in the Salt Lake Temple.

Surviving are his children Terry (Blaine) Goodell, Robin (Brent) VanZweden, Kristine Bowen, Kim (Kelly) Ehlers, Mark (Heidi) Cottle, Kathy (Jared) Sholly. He also has 21 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren who loved him dearly. Also surviving are two sisters, Bonnie (Clyde) Shaw and Nancy (Ron) Shields and one sister-in-law Sharon Cottle. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ted Cottle.

He was a father and friend to more than just his family and a hero to all. He left his family the legacy of hard work, generosity, honesty, integrity, and love. The family would like to express sincere appreciation and thanks to their special friends Roger and Deyon Schroeder, Harv Larsen, and Hospice of Utah for their many hours of service.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Valley View Chapel, 2455 Valley View Drive, Layton. Friends may visit with family Tuesday, August 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton.
