Robert Burns Cox
Robert Burns Cox, 83, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, April 19, 2010.
Robert was born to Orren M. and Nellie Doris Young Cox on May 6, 1926 in Fairview, Utah.
He attended school until 1944 when he joined the United States Marine Corp, where he served with distinction, earning a Bronze Star and Purple Heart on the Island of Iwo Jima. He was truly proud to be a Marine. After returning home, he married Bonnie Hadlock. They had three children: Keith, Debbie and Kathy. They were later divorced.
He worked for 33 years at Hill AFB as a specialist mechanic, where he received numerous awards and accommodations for his excellent service.
He was a faithful member of the LDS Church and held many positions.
In 1994 he married his longtime friend Barbara Leffler. They enjoyed many years together, traveling and doing crafts and sharing love for each other.
After Barbara’s passing in November 2007, he moved to Boise, Idaho with his son and family Mike and Denise Leffler and “his girls” Melissa and Nicolle.
Robert will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing this wonderful man. He was a very loving, patient, kindhearted and humorous man. He always had a smile on his face and had an amazing ability to get others to smile along with him.
Robert had a tremendous talent of making rag rugs. He found a lot of joy and pleasure in this amazing hobby. It is our hope to continue this tradition by teaching others how to make these rugs.
Survived by his son, Michael (Denise) Leffler, one daughter, three sisters, Lois (Jerry)Nehmer, Nina Hernandez, Judy Cooper, brother, Dick Cox, 19 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. He loved his family dearly.
