Robert John Eggli

May 7, 1949 ~ April 14, 2014

Our beloved, hero, comrade, father, brother, Papa, and all around “Macguyver” Robert “Bob” John Eggli, 65, passed away in a tragic automobile accident Tuesday, April 14, 2015. The world will be a little dimmer as he was and always will be a shining light in the lives of all those he knew.

Bob was born May 7, 1949 in Ogden, Utah, to Henry J. Eggli and Freda Schoonmaker. His parents union also gave him his best friend and partner in crime, sister Lynn Schofield (Kent). He was raised and educated in Sunset. After graduating from Clearfield High, Bob attended Weber State College for a brief period prior to entering the service. He proudly served four years in the U.S. Air Force. Two years later he received a bachelor’s degree in Geography from Weber State College. He then began his 35 year career as a Cartographer with the U.S. Forest Service, where he made many lifelong friendships.

He married Cathy Kinkead on May 19, 1973 and they were blessed with three daughters; Jennifer (Matt) Johnson, Andrea Child, and Christina (Mikk) Blickfeldt. They later divorced and on March 23, 2011 Bob married his high school sweetheart Jeanie Barnes in Ogden, Utah. Jeanie brought to his life four children; Brian Barnes, Stephanie (Joey) Mauer, Natalie Owen, and Paul (Jessica) Barnes. Jeanie preceded him in death February 11, 2014.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Bob enjoyed anything that brought him to the outdoors whether it was traveling, camping, fishing, hunting, ATVing in Moab with his buddies or cruising around in his Camaro. Most of all, he cherished and loved being with his children and grandchildren. He wanted them to enjoy it all with him. He had the joy of seeing several grandchildren into this world. From his side Ryder, Mckinley, and Miles. From Jeanie’s side Aubry, Carson, Taylor, Braxton, Hunter, Kenzie, Carter, Greyson, Azylyn, Aria, and Brynlyn with one more on the way. He couldn’t have been more proud of them all.

His wife and parents preceded him in death. Those who have survived him will never be the same without him and will feel his absence in their hearts.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2015 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Garden City Cemetery, Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 1 p.m. His final resting place will be in Garden City, Utah overlooking the scenic views of Bear Lake that he so enjoyed.
