Robert L Gulbransen

May 16, 1951 — May 11, 2022

Cedar Hills

Robert (Bob) Leroy Gulbransen, 70, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, in the loving arms of his devoted wife and children after a nearly 5 year battle with prostate cancer. He was born May 16, 1951 in Seattle, Washington to Ralph Vernon and Ruth Fry Gulbransen.

On June 7, 1974 Bob married Kathryn Kinney in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. He is the proud father of 5 children. Bob and Kathy resided in their country home in Franktown, Colorado for the majority of their 48 year marriage.

Bob spoke fondly of his childhood and formative years spent in Seattle, Washington, northern California, and Lima, Peru. As the middle child, he had special relationships with each of his 3 brothers and 3 sisters that endured throughout his lifetime.

As a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was able to return to Peru and serve in the Lima mission. He had a great love for the people and culture of Peru and the Spanish language. He was a devoted follower of the gospel of Jesus Christ and enjoyed working with the youth of the church and serving in the LDS Denver Temple.

Bob graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s degree; and from Brigham Young University with a Master’s degree. He cherished the time spent at these institutions as well as the friendships he developed. He was an avid sports fan of both schools and a proud alumnus. He took great pride in all 5 of his children graduating with university degrees.

He was a dedicated provider and entrepreneur, running his own practice as a Certified Public Accountant for almost 40 years. He also enjoyed several years concurrently spent as a university business and accounting instructor.

Bob's love for life and his family truly shined bright as a father and grandfather. He could be found coaching his children’s soccer teams, attending every ballet performance, practicing basketball and baseball in the driveway, and playing Sunday evening football games in the backyard. Bob and Kathy loved to travel all around the country visiting their grandchildren and took great pride in their accomplishments. He loved riding dirt bikes and boating and experienced a special joy engaging in those activities with his family.

Bob is survived by his wife, Kathryn Gulbransen; children, Jeffrey (Stephanie), Brian (Katie), Jacob (Deon), Julie (Brian), and Kevin (Shelby); and 21 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ruth Gulbransen.
