Robert Bruce Hamilton

Robert Bruce Hamilton passed away July 25, 2022, at the age of 88. Robert “Bob” was the first-born son of Nellie M (Carlson) Hamilton and Herbert W Hamilton. Bob was born in Salt Creek Oil Field in Midwest, Wyoming and had a younger brother Herbert W Hamilton and a younger sister Christine L (Hamilton) Smith, both deceased.
He attended the University of Wyoming, graduating in 1957 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
Bob met his sweetheart Joyce at the University of Wyoming, and married on June 10, 1961, in Colorado Springs, CO.
Bob was hired by Lockheed, located in Burbank, CA and worked in the infamous
Skunk Works as an aerospace engineer on iconic groundbreaking aircraft such as the SR71, F104 and U2 Ext program over 10 years. Bob and Joyce then moved to Ogden, Utah, where Bob began work on the F4 with the Technical Coordination Group, traveling the world. Bob had a storied 45-year career designing aircraft that changed the course of history during the cold war, the Vietnam War and in peacetime.
In his personal life Bob was active in his community with the Kiwanis Club, as a Mason in the Golden Spike No 6 Masonic Lodge and in the First Presbyterian Church in Ogden, Utah. Bob was also involved as a scoutmaster for more than 50 years in one of the oldest continuously operated Boy Scout Troops in the state; Troop 4. Bob Hamilton has touched many lives through his work as an engineer worldwide, as a community leader, and as a husband, father, brother. His unassuming work ethic and humble, thoughtful, and patient approach only added to his accomplishments. Once Bob passed, Joyce decided to follow the next day.
Bob is survived by his son, Robert J Hamilton (Michelle Amiot); daughter, Anna J Hamilton, and five grandkids.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Ogden, 880 28th Street. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
Celebration of Life for both Bob and Joyce will begin at 3 p.m. at the FPC of Ogden, hosted by the ladies group.
