Robert Tribe Heiner
March 6, 1925 ~ June 5, 2017
On the morning of June 5, 2017, a greatly loved and respected husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather returned to his Father in Heaven and a joyful reunion with loved ones. Robert “Bob” Tribe Heiner was 92. He was born on March 6, 1925, the youngest of eight children, to Heber Jay and Theresa Tribe Heiner. He attended Ogden city schools and graduated from Ogden High in 1942. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp in the South Pacific during World War II.
He married his high school sweetheart, Betty Louise Bramwell, on December 14, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. After the War, Bob worked in several capacities before joining the First Security Bank organization in 1951. He began his career with the Bank as a general ledger bookkeeper. During his years with the Bank, he quickly advanced, holding various positions. In 1982, he was elected President and CEO of First Security Bank and later became President and Chief Administrative Officer of First Security Corporation. He retired after 40 years.
Bob was very active in the community. He was a member of and served on committees and boards for the March of Dimes, the Ogden Lion’s Club, the United Fund of Northern Utah, the Institutional Council of Weber State College, the Ogden Industrial Development Corp., the Salt Lake Rotary Club, the Patio Springs Country Club, the Ogden Golf and Country Club, the Salt Lake Country Club, The Salt Lake Alta Club, and was instrumental in the development of the Eccles Dinosaur Park.
He was the President of the Utah Bankers Associations and the Greater Ogden Chamber of commerce. He was the Vice-President of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce. He was a Director of the Browning Arms Corporation, the Flying J Corporation, and the Management and Training Corporation. He also taught Banking classes at the American Institute of Banking.
He has received many awards, including the City of Hope National Spirit of Life Award, the Chamber Ogden/Weber 1992 Wall of Fame Award and an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree from Weber State College.
Dad was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
His greatest joy was his family and he was able to provide them all with treasured memories of times together. He taught us all the gift of love.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; his children, Kathleen (Wayne) Hansen; Michael R. Heiner; Joanne Smith; and Karen Anderson; ten grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Spencer; one brother, Heber Jay, Jr.; and sisters, Belva Morrison, Lois Doxey, Katherine Ostler, Lucille Heiner, Mary Allen, and Rema Stewart.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd
