Robert Jones

December 26, 1938 — October 11, 2024

Robert A Jones

After living a full, happy life, Bob Jones passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024. Bob was born December 26, 1938, in Lovell, Wyoming to Arnold and Marjorie Brown Jones. Bob loved growing up in Wyoming and developed a deep affection for the outdoors that was a constant his entire life.

Bob was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a missionary in the Northern States Mission from 1960 to 1962. After serving his mission, Bob reluctantly left Wyoming to pursue higher education and graduated from BYU in 1968 with a Master’s degree in education. While studying at BYU, Bob’s friends set him up with a local Provo girl named Karen Bullock. They were inseparable and were married on November 27, 1963, in the Salt Lake Temple.

After graduation, Bob and Karen moved to Bountiful, Utah where he worked his entire career (30 years) as a woodshop and math teacher at Viewmont High School. As an educator, he was able to influence many lives with his positive outlook on life and always pleasant demeanor. Being a teacher also afforded Bob and Karen the opportunity to spend the entire summer living and working at Colter Bay in Grand Teton National Park where they made many life long friendships and cherished memories.

Bob and Karen were a very united couple and worked together to raise their three children, Brett (Kristi), Greg (Stephanie) and Pam. Bob’s family was the greatest joy of his life, and he loved spending time outdoors with all of his children and grandchildren. Bob was content and complete with a fishing pole in his hand a grandchild by his side. He loved to spin tales (mostly true) of his many hunting and fishing adventures. After retirement Bob loved hiking with Karen and he pursued the hobby of wood carving. His carving skills were remarkable, and his children have many carvings as lasting reminders of their father.

Bob is survived by his wife Karen, his three siblings (Ed Jones, Maryann Coleman and Elaine Higgs), his three children, 11 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. While Bob is gone, he will never be forgotten.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, October 18, 2024 at Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State St. Provo, Utah. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary.
