Robert D. Kapp
March 28, 1938 ~ November 30, 2017
Robert D. Kapp, (Bob), our beloved father, grandpa, and friend passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017, at the age of 79 from complications after suffering a severe stroke.
Bob was born in Ogden, Utah on March 28, 1938 to Derk and Edna Kapp. He married Penny Collins on November 2, 1956 in the Logan Temple. They reared their four children; Sherri, Ron, Peggy, and Craig in Washington Terrace.
He was a hard worker and took pride in providing for his family. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after 45 years of service. Whether it was dance lessons, ski lessons, new cleats, or other sports equipment, dad always made sure his kids and grandkids could participate in their various activities.
Bob grew up loving and playing sports. He loved to share his love for sports by coaching his son’s in basketball, baseball, and football, and then later in life, cheering on his grandkids. You couldn’t have a conversation with Dad without talking about his favorite sports teams. The one thing Bob loved more than sports was Christmas! He loved to decorate the house, play Christmas music, make homemade Christmas candy, and do whatever he could to make Christmas a special time for his family!
He had many titles and roles throughout his life, but the most important ones to him were husband, dad, and grandpa. A usually quiet man, he would absolutely light up when his grandkids would come visit! Bob showed his love to his family through his acts of kindness and service. He taught us by example to be humble, hard-working, and most of all, to respect our mom and to stay close as a family.
He is survived by his four children: Sherri (Steven) Baumann, Ron (Staci) Kapp, Peggy (Terry) Oglesby, and Craig (Michelle) Kapp; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one brother and three sisters. Bob was preceded in death by his dear wife, Penny; his parents; one sister and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary; 3408 Washington Blvd. Family will visit with friends on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
