Robert Lane Burton

1944 – 2023

On Saturday, February 4, 2023, our loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, Robert “Bob” Burton, passed away at the age of 78. He’s now enjoying “another day in paradise” in heaven.

Bob was born in March 1944 to Lane and Rozella Burton in Kaysville, Utah. Bob was the oldest son of three children. He graduated from Davis High and attended the University of Utah. Bob spent the majority of his life living in Davis County, near his work and family. He married Judith Schofield in 1964 (later divorced) and they had four wonderful children; Kim, (Michael) Todd, Brandon, and Stacey.

Bob had an idyllic childhood and reminisced often about stories from his childhood riding horses, playing outside, going on winter sleigh rides and hunting with his dad. He loved and missed the “good ‘ol days” of his youth in Kaysville. Bob was a dedicated businessman and entrepreneur and worked for most of his life running his own business building wireline trucks with the help of both of his sons. Bob obtained several patents for his products and helped to create the standard in the industry of wireline trucks.

Bob had a tremendous work ethic and firmly believed in the American dream. Bob was an avid outdoorsman, car enthusiast and loved anything that could go fast. He raced cars, horses, boats and instilled a love of racing in his sons. Bob and his son, Brandon, operated the Utah chapter of Legends Cars for many years and were a fixture at Rocky Mountain Raceway where both Brandon and Todd raced. In his later years, Bob continued to work through various business ventures with his son, Brandon, including Winners Motorsports. Most recently, Bob supported Brandon’s new business, Rocky Mountain RV.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and sister Patricia McBride, daughter Kim Burton Liquori, son Michael Todd Burton, and his ex-wife Judy Burton. He is survived by his brother, Alan Burton, son Brandon Burton, and daughter Stacey Burton Harrison, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families, his four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
