Our father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle and friend, Robert Leonard age 76, passed away at home very peacefully. He was born on September 5, 1946, in Ogden, Utah. As a youth his family moved to Phoenix, AZ. There, he joined the Air Force in 1971.
Bob worked and retired from Langley Air Force Base as a Lt. Colonel in May 1993. He loved people and he was a great storyteller, where he kept most people entertained by jokes and humorous remarks. He loved riding motorcycles and was an avid gun man. He also enjoyed sporting events, good food and family in Pie Town, NM. Bob loved taking motorcycle rides and jeep adventures throughout the U.S.
He taught us to work and enjoyed being with other people. He taught us to play. He took us vacationing, camping and brought us to many events. He was loved for his quick wit and practical jokes. Dad was a protector and friend to all. Many people were touched by Dad’s genuine love of life. Everyone knew him for compassion and teaching moments.
Bob was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was a very devoted and active member of the Church. He had a deep love for the Savior and a strong testimony of the gospel. He served in many callings and people loved his visits. Dad loved teaching the gospel with the youth. If the truth be known, Bob was a “giant kid”, and his children would tell you that.
Bob is survived by his wife, Alexandra Hardy Shamaya of 7 years of marriage; four children: Holly Davis, John Leonard, Kristy Leonard, and Mark Leonard. He has 5 grandchildren. He is also survived by four siblings: Jerry Leonard, Kay Cordon, Gene Hanson, and Vicky Leonard.
Bob loved his family, and we know that by the way he spent time with us. He was the life of the party. We love our husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. This is not goodbye but rather see you later, till we meet again.
