Robert Eugene McDonald
Robert Eugene McDonald was born on October 6, 1926, and passed away at his home surrounded by his family, on Monday, January 4, 2016 at the age of 89.
Robert was born in Fostoria, Ohio, and shortly after the war, moved to Utah and was stationed at Hill Air Force Base. He lived in Fruit Heights, Utah at the time of his passing.
Robert served in the Navy during World War II and in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a proud serviceman and loved his country. He married his wife Vilate Brough on December 18, 1964, and they enjoyed 51 years of marriage together. They served an LDS mission to Hanoi, Vietnam. Robert was an avid reader, a lifetime learner, and loved to spend time with his family and many grandchildren. He was an active member of LDS Church, and served in a variety of callings.
He is survived by his wife Vilate Brough McDonald, and seven children: Linda Handy (Gary), Vicki Solomon (Al), Gene McDonald (Debbie), Kevin McDonald (Tracey), Lisa Hoeft (Paul), Kristine Allen (Brian), Becky Rigby (Jim), He has seven brothers and sisters that he loved very much, who still live in Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Roberta Carr, his sister Helen Kauffman, and his brother Lewis McDonald.
Funeral services will be held January 9, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Fruit Heights 4th Ward Church, 24 S. Country Lane, Kaysville, Utah. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
