Robert Gerald Montgomery
March 3, 1934 ~ April 19, 2018
Our father and beloved Grandpa Bobcat, Robert Gerald Montgomery, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at the age of 84.
Gerald was born on March 3, 1934 in Liberty, Utah to George Elery and Eva Clark Montgomery. He grew up in Liberty and attended school in the Weber County District. His ashes will be buried in Liberty. He has always been a part of the Valley. His heart has always been in Liberty and it will remain there.
Gerald served in the military in his youth as part of the Army. He was stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany. He was a retired civil servant and worked on military bases in Okinawa, Japan, California, and at Hill Air Force Base.
Gerald married Hilde Brink on June 23, 1964 in Ogden, Utah. Together they had four children. They later divorced.
As part of the greatest generation, Gerald was always hard working and an especially loving son. He believed in God, his children, and his grandchildren. He loved being a cowboy. He enjoyed horses and hunting, fishing and spending time in his RV, and the Duke.
Dad was ALWAYS good for an incredible story about riding the range, punchin’ cattle, his time as an enlisted man in the military, and the childhood posse of which he was part, “The Dirty Dozen.”
Gerald is survived by his sons, Raimund Walther Goebl (Bettina Hobus) and Stuart Brink Montgomery; his son-in-law, Jeff Fraser (Stephanie Fraser); his daughters, Yvette Montgomery (Tom Woodland) and Melanie Montgomery (Shawn Hales); fifteen grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elery and Eva Montgomery; and his daughter, Anja Montgomery Fraser.
