Robert Ray Moore
May 10, 1938 ~ August 4, 2017
Robert Ray Moore, 79, passed away Friday, August 4, 2017.
He was born May 10, 1938 in Laramie, Wyoming to Ray and Alice Moore. The family moved to Layton and Ogden areas where he attended schools. Bob was most proud of his service in the Navy in 1955 through 1958 where he served on the FDR Carrier and would always reminisce about being in NYC on “Flat Bush Avenue at Moriarty’s Bar”.
He married Sharon K. Wahlen, having two lovely girls and a handsome boy. On November 21, 1969, Bob married his partner for 47 long years, Nanette, and her lovely daughter to blend a wonderful family together. They were all hard working and prospered to strengthen the Moore heritage to this day with ten grand kids and so far eight great-grand kids, with one on the way in December.
He spent the majority of his working career at Hill AFB where for 32 years he either worked on the planes or later directing his crews. He was proud of that and always commented he made it that far even though he had very little education but was willing to work hard to support his family.
Bob enjoyed rebuilding wrecked vehicles and supplemented the family’s income with his efforts and provided them with great vehicles along the way. He made many friends with the junk yard people, the FORD parts people and just about anyone he met along the way and he really enjoyed meeting his buds for coffee and always a visit at the Gift House to share the information to the “knowledge center” which he was named the “chairman”.
Bob is survived by his wife, Nanette, his eldest and most tender daughter, Shelly, his sweet Sherry and her hubby Kirt, his loving daughter Tyann and her hard working husband, Tom, and his baby and name sake Bob and his wife Becky. He also considered a loving and considerate, compassionate special gal, Debbie and (her Mr. Debbie) Clay, part of the family and was so grateful for her attention to him to a fault. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy; two brothers, Roger (Anne) and big brother Don (Sherry).
He tried so hard to stay with us longer but that ole CANCER just sucked the life right of him in the end.
We will sure miss spending time with him at Flaming Gorge and also in Yuma, AZ.
Bob wanted to say good-bye to all his close friends so if you didn’t hear it, he is saying it now “good bye, adios and see you on the other side”.
We will have a “Celebration of Life” for Bob on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South from 6 to 8 p.m., with Military Honors at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Veterans Administration in his name, he would love that. It will make him smile if you tell a veteran “thank you for their service”, it always did him.
