Robert B. Ostrup
Robert B. Ostrup, 79 passed away this May 29, 2012. Born to Alfred B. and Viola Ostrup in Ogden, Utah, November 15, 1932, Bob attended Weber High School before working 20 years with Swifts Meat Packing, and later retiring from Continental Baking Co. in 1997.
Bob married Lois Dean Rose on December 6, 1952; the two would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this December.
Described as “vibrant” and “vigorous”, Bob lived his life with zest for adventure. In his younger days, he rode whatever was a thrill of the time; horses, bulls, and his Harley. In the early 1970’s Bob achieved one of his dreams; to earn his pilot license and fly his own Piper Cherokee.
Bob’s sense of humor was never-ending and when he grew too old to ride the bull, you could find him shooting it over coffee with the guys at “the coffee shop”. It didn’t take long around Bob to be touched in no small way; his practical jokes, brilliant blue eyes, contagious smile, and generous and giving heart left a lasting impression upon a myriad of the Ogden community and far beyond.
Some of Bob’s fondest memories were of time spent with his brother Willy and family on their farm in Bridge, Idaho, “MacGyvering” equipment that they found at a great deal.
Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years Lois; his four daughters, Debby Ostrup, Riverdale; Julie (Sal) Bravo, South Ogden; Angie (Steve) Waddoups, North Ogden; Linda (Kim) Braegger, Corinne; son, Rick Ostrup, Washington Terrace; sister, Betty; brother, Willy (R.V.); sisters-in-law, Myrna and Shirley; 27 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were very dear to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Al; a great-grandson; and a great-great-grandson.
Bob’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the compassionate care of the resident care staff and facilities staff at Crestwood Care Center. They would also like to thank the home health care staff of Legacy Hospice for their kindness, understanding, and caring support not only for Bob, but also for his family.
“It’s my Happy Day-going to the top!”
