Robert James Overly passed away February 21, 2018 at the George Wahlen Veteran’s Home in Ogden, Utah.
Robert was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1936. He spent 26 years of his life in the United States Air Force reaching heights of making it to Master Sergeant and beyond. Many of his years of service were served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
Robert was married to Ella Overly for over 61 years were they spent most of their life together in Layton, Utah. They have four children, Sherri Lockhead, Charles Overly, Bobby Overly and Mike Overly. He is survived by his grandsons, Chris Mitchell, Jonathen Mitchell, Nathen Overly, Nicolas Overly, Logan Overly and also six great-grandchildren who he adored.
During his time in the service Robert and his family spent time overseas in Spain and Germany. He retired from the military in 1978 and became a real estate agent where he sold homes for 34 years.
Robert was a devout Christian who spent 15 years as a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Layton, Utah.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Faith Baptist Church, 2430 N. Fairfield Road, Layton. Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. A fellowship dinner will be held for all friends and family following the services on Tuesday at the church.
