LAYTON a€" Robert Vern Parker passed away Monday, January 19, 2009, the day before his 87th birthday.

He was born January 20, 1922 in Clinton, Utah, the second son of Thomas and LaVern Stewart Parker.

Robert grew up in Clinton, Utah then served in the Pacific during World War II.

On December 1, 1948 he married his sweetheart Irene Chamberlin in the Salt Lake Temple.

Robert enjoyed working outdoors and traveling with his family, especially returning home.

Robert was a dedicated worker in church callings and careers. After retiring from Hill Air Force Base, he worked several years at ZCMI.

Robert and his wife Irene served an LDS mission in Houston, Texas.

Surviving are his four children, Shelley (Walt) Eddy, Chris (Lori) Parker, Joy (Steven) Spraycar, Norman Parker; his grandchildren, Amy, Mike, Kiele, Brent, Christie, Stacie, Jony, Tanya, Ty, Marisha, Derick, Ryan; his great-granddaughters, Hannah, Piper, Alaina, and Ava; his sister Jennette Wood and his brother William Parker.

Robert was preceded in death by his sweetheart Irene, his parents, and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 23, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, South Ogden.
