Robert R. Parker, passed away Wednesday February 25, 2009 from causes incident to age.

Robert Roland Parker was born April 26, 1922 on a farm in Hooper, Utah. He attended Hooper School, Weber High School and Weber College. Being raised on a farm he learned about provident living and acquired an ethic of hard work that sustained him throughout his life. He was married to his sweetheart Maxine Parkin November 5, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Robert owned and operated a farm and cattle operation in Hooper. In 1953, he joined the Boy Scouts of America as a professional, working in Ogden and Salt Lake City as Asst. Scout Executive and was then selected to be the Scout Executive in Idaho Falls, ID, and later in Midland, MI, where he finished his 32 years as a professional scouter. He also worked 15 years as a volunteer and was honored by receiving the Silver Beaver Award.

Robert spent many years working with the Church youth program. He served in the Idaho Falls 20th Ward bishopric, and as Bishop of the Saginaw Ward in Michigan.

After retirement they moved back to Centerville. He and Maxine were guides on Temple Square, and served two missions, in Bangkok,Thailand and Sydney, Australia. He served for nine years as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake and Bountiful Temples. He was very proud of his and Maxine''s involvement in preserving their family history. Their five sons fulfilled LDS missions, and their oldest daughter and husband completed a couple mission.

He is survived by his eight children Ann (Ted) Steinman, Ammon, ID; Joan (Bob) Becker, Williamsburg, Va; Clyde (Becky) Parker, Idaho Falls, ID; Lynn (Lori) Parker, Rigby, ID; Glen (Beverly) Parker, Provo, UT; Carl (Kelli) Parker, Payson, UT; Paul (Audrey) Parker, Clinton, UT; Joyce (Richard) Ellis, West Jordan, UT; 41 grandchildren and many great- grandchildren. Their most rewarding experience was spending time with their family.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Canyon View Stake Center, 2110 N. Main Centerville, UT. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 pm at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Sat. at the church from 9:30 -10:30 am prior to services.
