Robert William Pledger 1932 a" 2008
OGDEN a" Our loving, kind and gentle husband, father, grandfather and brother, Robert William Pledger, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2008.
He was born August 31, 1932 in Ogden, to Sarah Johns and Arthur George Pledger. Bob grew up in Ogden and learned the meaning of hard work as a boy.
He married his sweetheart, the love of his life, Beverly Jean Skeen on March 28, 1952 and they spent 56 years together.
Bob was a radar man with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He always worked hard to provide for his family and after years of working as a machinist, he started his own business, "Pledger Cutter Grind", where he enjoyed years of success working alongside his son.
Bob spent many years working in his yard. He was truly our hero!
Surviving are his wife, Beverly, daughters, Sherrel (David) Oblock, Diane (Steven) Clark, son, Blake (Tammy) Pledger, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his sisters, Glenna Allen, Donna Brinkerhoff, Miriam Stephens, and brothers, David Arthur and Richard. He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Summers.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 12 noon at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., where Military Honors will be accorded.
Friends may call at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of his grandson, Grant Platt, to the NTAF Southwest Liver Transplant Fund, 150 N. Radnor Chester Road Suite F-120, Radnor, PA 19087.
