Robert Stanley (Stan) Pollett

March 8, 1942 – July 9, 2014

LAYTON – Stan Pollett, 72, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. He was born on March 8, 1942 in Richfield, UT to William B. and Dorthella Barney Pollett. He grew up in Layton, UT where he attended Davis County schools.

On August 30, 1962, Stan married his high school sweetheart, and love of his life, JoAnn Forbes. They celebrated 52 wonderful years together. Stan and JoAnn were blessed with five children, all daughters, and later 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of whom were his most cherished and greatest joy in life.

Stan loved the outdoors spending much of his time in the mountains by a lake or river fishing. Our fondest memories were spending the day fishing with him at Fish Lake and hearing him talk about “the good ole’ days.” John Wayne, Gene Autry and all the old westerns were always playing at his home. He was always on the sidelines cheering and supporting his children and grandchildren’s football, baseball, swim meets, lacrosse, and softball games, smiling and telling them how proud he was of them. He spent much of his life as a warehouse manager for many companies at Freeport Center and Hill Field. He was a great friend to all; everyone who knew him loved him.

Stan is survived by his sweetheart, JoAnn, daughters Rhonda McColloch, Karey (Kirk) Thomas, Julie (David) Varnell, Amey (Steve) Brown, Rebecca (David) Sanders; 11 grandchildren: Austin (Caitlin) McColloch, Braiden (Jade Layton) McColloch, Morgan McColloch, Christopher Thomas, Jessica Thomas, Tiffany Varnell, Kennadi Varnell, Preston Brown, Dillon Brown, Jordan Sanders, Cassidy Sanders; and one great-granddaughter Oaklee McColloch. He is also survived by his brothers: William G. (Bernie) Pollett, Deon B. (Linda) Pollett; sisters: Barbara (Larry-deceased) Geertgens, Darlene (Al B.) Benham; sister-in-law Lavern Pollett, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Elmer and Ila Forbes, two brothers, Larry and Kenneth, and one grandson, Cody McColloch.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, UT. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment, West Point Cemetery, 40 North 4000 West, West Point, UT.
