Retired C.M. Sgt Robert R. (Rudy) Rudolph
Retired C.M. Sgt Robert R. “Rudy” Rudolph passed away at home, December 29, 2016. Born September 19, 1937 in Rugby, North Dakota to Charles and Jessie Rhine Rudolph.
He served 29 plus years in the U. S. Air Force, stateside and abroad, earning many awards. He was a lifetime member of the Roy Elks, serving as Exalted Ruler from 1990-1991. He was also a member of the Clearfield American Legion. He enjoyed playing ball, golfing, hunting, fishing, auto racing and telling a good joke.
Rudy married Marilyn J. Hett July 22, 1956. He considered it a perfect marriage of 60 years. Besides his wife he is survived by his sons Robert (Victoria) Rudolph and Mitchel (Cheryl) Rudolph of Arizona; daughter Laurel Lea Valberg of Layton, Utah; grandchildren: Tyler, Thomas, Alexandra, Rogan, and Weston, also a surrogate son, Todd Bingham and family of West Point, Utah, siblings Cheryl (Dale) Kroeplin Highmore, South Dakota; Michael (Kathy) Rudolph of Garrison, North Dakota; and Judy Nahler of Denver, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.
He and his family express gratitude to Dr Jason Stinnett, M.D., Lisa Anderson, R.N., and other Utah Cancer Specialists for their unwavering devotion, and Rocky Mountain Hospice for their help and care during his last days.
A memorial celebration will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Military Honors to follow service. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.
