Robert J. Sheppard

Robert J. Sheppard, 84, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013. He was born on September 15, 1928, in Ogden to Robert B. and Sylvia Wilson Sheppard.

He graduated from Ogden High School in 1944. Robert served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He was a National Defense Service Member and received the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star and the United Service Medal. He worked for the US Postal Service for five years.

Robert married Margaret Whitaker and had one daughter. Margaret passed away in 1979.

He worked as a manager in many service stations in Long Beach, California and moved back to Ogden in 1979. Robert worked at Hill Air Force Base, retiring in 1993. He worked for Ogden City Parks Department after his retirement.

Robert married Sandra Welch on June 18, 1990, in Ogden.

He enjoyed his family home, gardening, woodworking, camping, and Toy.

Robert is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughters, Tess (Chad) Hughes and Jeannie Hibbetts (Scott Esser); grandchildren, Brianna (Nick) Sloan, Cody Newman, Rachael Newman, Celeste Hibbetts, and Shaelyn Hughes; great-grandchildren, NikAnna and Kentyn Sloan; and sister, JoAnne and Steve Simonsen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, and 1 brother.

Family would like to thank Hearts for Hospice for all help and support. Also Judy and Clyde Niederhauser for all their love and support.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Ogden City Cemetery. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
